Designed in Accordance with BR470 Principles
Lotrak® working platform designs are developed using the widely recognised BR470 design methodology. This established approach considers factors such as subgrade strength, platform material properties, applied plant loads and the contribution offered by geosynthetic reinforcement.
Using our dedicated Stronger by Design calculation tools, we can help assess platform requirements and identify opportunities to optimise construction while maintaining performance and safety.
Our technical support includes:
• Working platform design assistance
• BR470-based calculations
• Product selection guidance
• Aggregate thickness optimisation
• Geosynthetic reinforcement recommendations
• Design Optimisation opportunities
High-Strength Geotextiles and Geogrid Reinforcement
Lotrak® working platform solutions typically utilise our 50R and 70R high-strength woven geotextiles, or our range of premium biaxial geogrids.
High-strength woven geotextiles provide robust separation and reinforcement, helping to maintain platform integrity when constructed over weak or variable ground conditions. By preventing contamination between the platform aggregate and the underlying soil, they help preserve the strength of the constructed layer throughout the project's duration.
Lotrak® biaxial geogrids can further improve platform performance by enhancing aggregate stability within the working platform structure. This allows loads to be distributed more effectively through the platform and into the subgrade, often creating opportunities to reduce aggregate thicknesses compared with unreinforced solutions.
Building Safer and More Efficient Platforms
A well-designed working platform is more than simply a layer of stone. BR470 and Federation of Piling Specialists guidance both recognise that platform performance depends on understanding site conditions, expected loading and the interaction between the ground, aggregate and any reinforcement materials. By incorporating Lotrak® geosynthetics into the design, benefits can include:
• Improved platform stability
• Enhanced load distribution
• Reduced aggregate requirements
• Separation of aggregate and subgrade soils
• Increased confidence during construction operations
• Potential cost savings through optimised platform designs
A Complete Geosynthetics Solution
Unlike single-product systems, Lotrak® offers a complete geosynthetics portfolio. Our technical team can assess whether a woven geotextile, nonwoven geotextile, biaxial geogrid, or a combination of products will provide the most efficient solution for your project. This ensures designs are based on site requirements rather than product limitations. This flexibility allows us to develop practical solutions that balance performance, safety, constructability and cost.
The Lotrak® Working Platform Product Range
Lotrak® Woven Geotextiles
Designed to provide excellent separation and reinforcement performance within road foundations, helping preserve aggregate integrity and maintain pavement performance.
Lotrak® Nonwoven Geotextiles
Providing effective filtration and separation where drainage and soil retention are critical design considerations.
Lotrak® Biaxial Geogrids
Engineered to stabilise aggregate layers through mechanical interlock, improving load distribution and enhancing foundation performance on challenging ground conditions. We are that confident with our product performance, that why Lotrak® geogrids have a 100 year product design life.
